Personal:

Married to Elizabeth (she got me running in 2003). We have three boys, Lucas (12) , Sam (8) and Ollie (5).

Many years ago, I read that the AVERAGE male is capable of a 2:40 marathon.  I decided to test that theory.  I began running in 2003 with Top of Utah as my first marathon (4:24).  I need 3 more minutes.

Sluggish run this morning up through the Avenues.  Due to fatigue, I'll probably just do a short run around Liberty park Friday morning then run the Alta Peruvian Lodge race on Saturday (5 miles) then run the 5 miles back up to the lodge.

I am running the TOU marathon next Saturday, but I'm thinking about running 5 x 2 mile interval work-out during the week.  I would keep it at marathon pace, but that would be a high mileage workout (15-16 miles).  I'm planning on running St. George on October 1 too.  Any thoughts on doing this?

Mark - even if you do it @ MP, that will still give you 36 miles of pretty fast running next week. It might be fine for TOU, but getting recovered in time for StG could be a challenge. I like 1 mile reps the week of a longer race... good for turnover and feeling good mentally, but a little less volume and easier to recover from.
